The platform features an electronic control unit (ECU) at its core, in conjunction with solenoid valves and pressure modulators which are connected to a compact distributor block. The modular structure makes it possible to flexibly use different ABS and EBS system variants in 12-V and 24-V systems. This also enables the uncomplicated upgrading of existing ABS systems to electronic braking systems (EBS) without any additional changes to the wiring or installation points.
The EB+ 4.0 platform from Haldex has proven itself in practical application
The EB+ 4.0 shows its advantages in practical use: Trailer manufacturers benefit from how easy it is to expand the system. Additional modules, such as a pressure protection valve, pneumatic auxiliary module, mobiliser, and a spring brake-control module can be easily added on. Another advantage of the new platform is that it meets the current legal requirements, in particular in Europe, where the new Regulation No. 141 for tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) has been binding for trailers since July 2024. Older ABS generations were no longer able to meet these requirements.
ABS 4.0, on the other hand, comes with the TPMS gateway capability already integrated.
The platform also complies with the current UN Regulation No. 156, which stipulates secure software updates for electronic systems. Haldex has developed the SUMS portal for this purpose: It enables manufacturers to have the necessary control over the software updates on their trailer EBS and to provide the required verification in accordance with UN R156.
Always the latest versions thanks to uncomplicated software updates
The flexible and adaptable software solution of the EB+ 4.0 platform enables fast and uncomplicated software updates for easy implementation of regulatory changes and the latest safety standards. Alexander Kraus, Senior Commercial Product Manager at Haldex, emphasises: “The success of the EB+ 4.0 platform impressively confirms our modular approach. The easy implementation of expansions and adaptations ensures that trailer manufacturers are optimally prepared for current and future challenges. Our customers particularly appreciate the cost efficiency, flexibility and future-proof concept offered by this system.” By integrating innovative additional features such as tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), automated lift axle controls (ILAS-EP) or the Soft Docking system, Haldex is taking a proactive approach to future technological trends.
With the EB+ 4.0 platform, Haldex continues to position itself as a pioneer and reliable partner of the commercial vehicles industry that supports manufacturers and users in meeting the highest safety standards while ensuring cost efficiency.
