Hydraulic Drive Technology
Hydraulic Drive Technology is used in the SAF INTRA CD TRAK axle in the form of a hydraulic auxiliary drive that supports starting uphill or on uneven ground from the trailer when the traction of the tractor alone is no longer sufficient.
The engine power of tractors has grown continuously in recent years. However, it is often not possible to convert this power into traction in challenging terrain or after unloading with only one drive axle.
In order to bridge these difficult passages, the SAF TRAK starting aid is sufficient in many cases: It brings the drive into the trailer and uses the hydraulic power already available in the vehicle for an extra push. The SAF TRAK system consists of hydraulic wheel hub motors that are integrated into the SAF wheel end to save space. Drivers activate the auxiliary drive from the cockpit via the patented control system.
Areas of application for the SAF TRAK auxiliary drive are tipper trailers, walking floor vehicles and applications in special vehicle construction.
-
15,000 Nm drive torque at 350 bar hydraulic pressure
-
Patented control for dump trailers and walking floors
-
Approx. 150 kg lighter than hydraulic drives in tractors
-
Compatible with all tractor makes after appropriate modification of the hydraulic control system
-
Wear parts, e.g. brake disc and pads or wheel bearings, are identical to parts of conventional SAF suspensions

Axle, smartphone app and NFC chip – that is all that will be needed to quickly and reliably identify parts. For fast and reliable repairs, SAF-HOLLAND will be using the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology in its SH CONNECT app in the future, turning smartphones into workshop assistants
The SAF TrailerMaster from the SAF-HOLLAND Group makes transport processes digital: The telematics system makes trailers smart, connects components and supplies digital data in real time. For fleet managers, the future-proof trailer management offers even more added value, as they can see the status of their entire fleet at a glance, manage it and evaluate maintenance procedures.
